This recipe for savoury beef mince can be used to make tacos, quesadillas, nachos, or a simple spaghetti bolognese. Add some chilli flakes or fresh chilli if you prefer a bit of spice.
Ingredients
- 500g lean beef mince
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 large carrot, finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 400g can diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp thyme leaves
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup (250ml) beef stock
Method
Step 1
Heat oil in a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened.
Step 2
Add garlic, carrot and celery and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 3
Add mince and cook for 5 minutes or until browned.
Step 4
Add tomato paste, tomatoes, thyme, Worcestershire and stock and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until sauce has thickened. Season.
