This recipe for spaghetti bolognese is a classic weeknight staple that’s quick and easy to make.
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 500g of lean beef mince
- Olive oil
- 1 can of diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp of tomato paste
- 1 onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 carrot
- 1 stick of celery
- Pasta
- Salt and pepper
- Basil
- Fresh chillies (optional)
Method
Step 1
Finely slice onion and garlic, and chop carrot and celery into small cubes.
Step 2
Heat fry pan over medium to high heat and add olive oil to the pan.
Step 3
Add the garlic and onion, frying for 2-3 minutes. Add the beef mince and stir until the mince browns.
Step 4
Add the tomato paste and mix. Add the can of diced tomato, carrot and celery.
Step 4
Meanwhile, boil water in a large pot and cook pasta until al dente.
Step 5
Add salt, pepper, and basil to the mince mixture and stir through well.
Step 6
Drain the pasta and mix in a dash of olive oil to avoid the pasta sticking together.
Step 7
Serve by adding pasta to bowls, and topping with the beef mince. Garnish with fresh basil.
